Though most meetings were held virtually, that didn't stop Windy City LUG from holding a monthly seed part challenge during 2020.
A seed part challenge is when one person picks a part that all who participate must include in their build. All members vote and the winner gets to pick the next part and is the holder of the monthly seed part trophy (below).
Casey's November entry, Patrol Through Sector X1-3N and here's what Casey had to say about it:
"For the challenge, I sat down with my small bin of the seed part (2x2 Radar Dish) and started playing around with colors and shapes to try and spark an idea. First was the robot's head and I decided to try and cram in as many on the robot's body as well. From there, I kept on trying out shapes and colors (green for the bush, white for the piping, etc.) and tried to build a small scene in the theme and aesthetic that the robot could be centered around. I also tried to work in similar elements (like the 3x3 Radar Dish) that fit thematically and kept a consistent tone. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out!
Honestly, it feels pretty undeserved as I entered for the first time in the last possible month for the year! So I'm shocked, surprised, and honored by my fellow LUG-mates that they would pick me!"
Congrats to Casey, he will be the first to get his name on and be the steward of the The Year's Best Seed Part trophy!
